Manifesto
Can we stop the madness?
Of all the books on "Christian Living" - of all the agendas of the "Evangelicals" - could I please see raised up the banner of simplicity?
Let us no more be pawns to advertising agencies. Let us not accept that insistent message that we "need" more and more and more. Let us reject endless materialism.
The issue is NOT the stuff. The issue is character. We are becoming more and more self-centered - and to our own demise! We are coming to a place where we can no longer empathize or feel for one another, much less the rest of creation. How sad! How terrible the tragedy that sears our very souls and leaves emotionless and empty! Our self-centeredness will isolate us until we die in our un-being.
And yet we justify the situation by arguing such things as "The situation is such that we must!" We must do whatever it takes to make a profit...but such an endless cycle? Can we not see it?
The time has come - now. Either the system must be renovated before it destroys itself and our souls or it must be removed and replaced with something new.
But be aware. Even that which is new will fall some day too. Everything touched by human hands is tainted by our falleness. And so let us move, but move with humility. We should recognize the need for systems, but never worship the systems as though they are unmovable reality. As creations of our hands, we need to lovingly parent the systems in play and lovingly lay to rest those systems which have had their time, and now must be put aside - with respect and thankfulness...
It is time for commercial consumerism to rest in peace.

A Set Of Random Thoughts
Random Thoughts...
1) Afleet Alex is the best horse in the Derby this year. If he gets a decent trip, he'll win. Second place goes to Nobel Causeway and Wilko gets third. Sun King and Consolidator are wild cards and Bandini is a much better horse than he will run on May 7th.
2) I don't like my story and it has stymied my blogging. Damn story. Who wrote that?
3) People love to be told what to do. The fastest growing religions (or denominations) in the world are those which provide hard and fast rules. I don't want to be a people.
4) Just Pat reads my blog.
5) The Doctrine of the Trinity is a more holistic, useful and generous approach to pluralistic society than the multi-cultural theories we're taught today.
6) I aming. Are-ing you?
7) Good movies are hard to find.
8) Chicken or egg? What comes first? The best men are the ones who get married or the men who get married become the best men? No regret here, just curiosity...
9) Art can be disturbing. That is fine and good. But may the artist always know that it comes from within. Paint your disturbing world fully aware of your self-revelation to the world.
10) You might want to lodge a complaint with God for it seems heaven forgot to get me the message that you were praying for me. Unfortunately our records indicate that you still treat me like poop. OR. Your hazy, misty fog that you call spiritualism doesn't mean crap if the rubber never hits the road.
11) I'm glad for this day.
12) I can't WAIT for summer!!!!!!! I'm going to go swimming ALL THE TIME!!! I like sun. I like water. I like them a LOT!
13) Hooty and the Blowfish - reminds me of Baylor days, sailing along the Brazos...warm sun, warm water. "I'm such a baby, yeah the dolphins make me cry...well there's nothing I can do, I only want to be with you."
14) Choices shape character. Character shapes choices. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound...
